She grew up in South Carolina and attended the University of South Carolina with a major in chemical engineering. During an undergraduate research experience Sarah became very interested in tissue engineering, which lead her to the University of Illinois Bioengineering program. After finishing her MD/PhD Sarah would like to participate in a research-track residency program and eventually work at an academic hospital as part of an interdisciplinary research team. In her free time Sarah likes to go hiking or on long bike rides with her boyfriend in Wisconsin, to cook dinner for friends, and to see the world one country at a time!
